Be Of Good Heart
Program Description
Be of Good Heart is a program designed to raise awareness, educate and screen people for diabetes and hypertension - chronic diseases that can lead to heart disease.
In both men and women with diabetes, heart disease leading to a heart attack or stroke is the leading cause of death. Statistically, 33% of African Americans with diabetes also have heart disease. Adults with diabetes are two to four times more likely to die from heart disease than people without diabetes. Diabetes and heart disease also have common risk factors, including obesity and high blood pressure.
Our Impact
1,760+ individuals were screened in 2020 at the Ascension Ebenezer Health Resource Center, Ascension St. Joseph Campus, and community events throughout Milwaukee.
